How does strength training help me prepare for birth?Strength training during pregnancy has been shown to improve endurance, support pelvic health, and promote better birth outcomes. Research suggests that strength and mobility work can help reduce the risk of excessive weight gain, gestational diabetes, and hypertensive disorders (ACOG, 2020). Functional strength training also helps prepare your body for the demands of labor and delivery by: ✅ Building muscular endurance to support the physical intensity of labor ✅ Enhancing core and pelvic floor function to improve baby’s positioning and reduce the risk of prolonged labor (Bo et al., 2013) ✅ Supporting joint and ligament stability as your body adapts to hormonal changes like increased relaxin ✅ Aiding postpartum recovery, with studies showing that staying active during pregnancy leads to a smoother transition into movement after birth (Davenport et al., 2019) My approach focuses on safe, functional movements designed to help you feel strong, capable, and prepared—not just for birth, but for the demands of motherhood.
-
I’m new to strength training—can I still work with you?Absolutely! Strength training during pregnancy is safe and beneficial, even if you’ve never lifted weights before. My coaching is completely tailored to your experience level, trimester, and unique needs, so you’ll learn how to move with confidence in a way that feels good for your body. That said, it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before starting a new fitness routine, especially during pregnancy. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week during pregnancy for most individuals, but your provider can help determine what’s best for you based on your personal health history. My approach focuses on safe, functional movements that support your body through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. Whether you’re brand new to strength training or looking to modify your current routine, I’ll guide you every step of the way!

What’s the difference between a birth doula and a prenatal strength coach? As a Perinatal Strength Coach, I help you train your body for the physical demands of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. As a Birth Doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond—helping you feel empowered, advocated for, and fully supported throughout the experience. Together, these roles create a holistic approach to birth and postpartum preparation.

Do you offer virtual coaching and doula support?Yes! My Kettlebell Mama Coaching is offered virtually through my training app, where you’ll receive customized workout programs, video tutorials, and live mobility classes—all designed to fit your needs and goals. You’ll also have access to monthly live coaching calls with me, where we can dive deeper into your progress, address any questions, and make adjustments to your program. The app makes it easy to track your workouts and stay connected with me for ongoing support and accountability. As for birth doula services, they are currently available for in-person clients living on the Kitsap Peninsula. I offer personalized support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, guiding you through every step of the way. Whether it’s birth planning, comfort measures, or emotional support, I’m here to provide the hands-on care and advocacy you deserve during this incredible journey.

When should I start working with you? It’s never too early or too late to start working with me as your coach and birth doula! If you’re in your first trimester, we can focus on building a strong foundation through strength training, breathwork, and mobility exercises, helping you stay active and feel energized throughout pregnancy. If you’re in your second or third trimester, I can help you prepare for birth by focusing on strength for labor, mobility for better baby positioning, and breathing techniques to help with pelvic floor relaxation. It’s never too late to begin training your body for the physical demands of birth! And even if you’re close to your due date, I’ll be there to provide coping techniques, emotional, physical, and informational support when you need it most. I can help you navigate the process, offer comfort measures, and advocate for your birth preferences. Whether you’re planning ahead or looking for support closer to your due date, I’m here to support you every step of the way—from pregnancy to postpartum recovery. You deserve to feel confident and supported, no matter where you are in your journey.

How can working with a birth doula benefit me during labor?A birth doula offers continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor and delivery. I’ll help you stay informed, calm, and empowered by providing comfort measures, suggesting labor positions, guiding relaxation techniques, and advocating for your birth plan. Studies show that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and increased satisfaction with the birth experience. My goal is to help you feel supported, confident, and in control every step of the way!
